JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa has appointed Amrita Kaul Rawat as Director of Human Resources, bringing an experienced Marriott professional into the resort's leadership team to strengthen its people, talent and workplace culture agenda.
JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa has appointed Amrita Kaul Rawat as Director of Human Resources. The appointment was reported on August 27, 2026, by Today's Traveller, with other hospitality publications reporting the development from August 26. Rawat brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience spanning India and the UAE, with much of her career built across Marriott International properties.
In her new role, Rawat will lead the human resources strategy at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, with a focus on talent development, leadership capability, associate engagement, diversity and inclusion, employee well-being and workplace culture.
The appointment
Her appointment is particularly relevant for the hospitality sector, where HR leaders are increasingly being tasked not only with hiring and retention but also with building strong employee experiences that directly influence guest service.
From hotel operations to HR leadership
Rawat's career stands out for the way it combines hotel operations with people leadership.
Before moving to JW Marriott Mussoorie, she served as Human Resources Manager at Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, where her responsibilities included associate engagement, HR business partnering, leadership development and organisational culture. HRKatha reports that she held the role from March 2022 to March 2025.
Her Marriott journey also includes a significant tenure with JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, where she progressed through operational leadership roles, moving from housekeeping leadership to Director of Services. Earlier, she contributed to the pre-opening of JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi Aerocity.
That operational experience gives Rawat a perspective that is particularly useful in hospitality HR. Unlike many sectors, employee experience in hotels has an immediate impact on the customer experience — from housekeeping and food and beverage to front-office operations and guest relations.
Her move into a senior HR leadership position therefore brings together an understanding of how hotels operate on the ground with the people practices required to build engaged and service-oriented teams.
People and culture at the centre of her mandate
At JW Marriott Mussoorie, Rawat will work closely with the resort's leadership team to strengthen an environment where employees are supported to learn, grow and take greater ownership of the guest experience.
Her priorities will include developing future leaders, improving associate engagement, strengthening diversity and inclusion, supporting employee well-being and building a workplace culture aligned with the JW Marriott brand.
Commenting on her appointment, Rawat said hospitality ultimately comes down to the people behind the experience, adding that she looks forward to creating a culture where associates feel valued, inspired and empowered to grow. Gaurav Issar, General Manager, JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, also welcomed Rawat to the leadership team, highlighting her experience, leadership approach and focus on people as important strengths for the resort.
HireRoute Take
For HireRoute, Rawat's appointment is an interesting example of how hospitality companies are approaching HR leadership.
Hotels compete heavily for skilled talent, but recruitment is only one part of the challenge. Retaining employees, developing frontline leaders, strengthening workplace culture and ensuring teams remain motivated are equally important — particularly in luxury hospitality, where service quality depends heavily on human interaction.
Rawat's progression from operational roles into HR leadership also underlines another important trend: some of the strongest people leaders are those who have worked directly inside the business functions they eventually support. With more than 15 years of hospitality experience across India and the UAE, Rawat now takes on the responsibility of shaping the people agenda at one of Marriott's prominent luxury resort properties in India.
