Carlson Private Capital appoints Ted Andrews as Head of Talent.
Private equity talent leader Ted Andrews joins Carlson Private Capital Partners after building experience across Sole Source Capital, Korn Ferry and his own human capital advisory firm, Aureus Partners.
Carlson Private Capital Partners (CPC) has appointed Ted Andrews as Head of Talent, strengthening the firm’s focus on leadership, executive talent and human capital across its private investment platform.
The appointment brings experience spanning private equity talent strategy, executive search, recruiting and portfolio-company leadership into Carlson Private Capital Partners’ wider investment ecosystem, where the firm works primarily with family- and founder-owned middle-market companies.
The appointment and mandate
In his new role, Andrews is expected to connect private-equity talent experience with the leadership needs of CPC’s portfolio companies. For private capital firms, identifying leaders capable of executing growth plans can play an important role both before and after an investment is made.
That focus places talent closer to the value-creation agenda, where executive hiring, succession, management capability and portfolio operations increasingly work together.
From Aureus Partners to Carlson Private Capital Partners
Before joining Carlson Private Capital Partners, Andrews founded Aureus Partners, a human capital advisory and executive search firm focused specifically on private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
Aureus was established around the idea that leadership and talent decisions should be closely linked to an investment firm’s value-creation strategy. Its work has included C-suite searches, portfolio operations hiring, executive networks and talent advisory for private equity sponsors.
Andrews has described his work at Aureus as building human capital infrastructure at the fund level and connecting executive talent with private equity investment priorities. That experience is directly relevant to his new position as Head of Talent at CPC.
Private equity talent experience at Sole Source Capital
Prior to launching Aureus Partners, Andrews worked at Sole Source Capital, where he held talent leadership responsibilities within the private equity environment.
He joined Sole Source Capital in early 2025 as Vice President of Talent Acquisition. His responsibilities included building the firm’s executive network for portfolio companies and boards, according to published executive-profile information.
His experience there placed him directly within the talent side of private equity investing. The leadership team installed at a portfolio business can influence how quickly a growth strategy is executed, whether operational improvements are delivered and how effectively a company navigates expansion, acquisitions or organisational change.
Executive search experience from Korn Ferry
Earlier in his career, Andrews spent around two years with Korn Ferry, working in executive-level recruitment within the private equity and industrial markets.
At Korn Ferry, he served in the firm’s Industrial Practice, supporting leadership searches for private equity and corporate clients. He also previously worked as Recruiting Manager for Finance & Technology at Roth Staffing, adding functional recruiting experience across finance, accounting and technology roles.
Together, these roles give Andrews experience across multiple sides of the talent market: agency recruitment, executive search, in-house private equity talent leadership and strategic human capital advisory.
Why Carlson Private Capital Partners is building talent capability
Carlson Private Capital Partners is a private investment firm formed by the Carlson family. CPC invests private family capital and positions itself around flexible investment horizons and long-term value creation.
The firm primarily targets profitable businesses in the United States and Canada with approximately $50 million to $500 million in revenue, $8 million to $40 million-plus in EBITDA, and equity investment requirements generally ranging from $20 million to $100 million. Its areas of experience include industrial, consumer, distribution and business-services companies, alongside healthcare and financial services.
CPC’s emphasis on family- and founder-led businesses makes leadership particularly important. Businesses may need succession planning, new functional leaders, stronger management structures, specialist operating talent or executives capable of leading the next stage of growth without disrupting the culture that helped build the company.

Talent is moving closer to private equity value creation
The Andrews appointment reflects a wider development across private capital: talent is increasingly treated as part of the investment and operating strategy rather than a post-investment HR requirement.
Private equity firms frequently evaluate management capability during due diligence. After an acquisition, requirements can expand to CEO or CFO succession, building commercial teams, strengthening operations leadership, recruiting board members and finding specialists who can execute specific parts of the investment thesis.
At Aureus Partners, Andrews’ work centred on executive search and portfolio talent, while his earlier role at Sole Source Capital gave him first-hand experience working inside a private equity firm. That combination can support CPC’s approach of working alongside management teams and providing resources to help portfolio businesses grow over longer investment horizons.
His former firm’s private equity talent advisory work provides additional context for the human-capital model behind his career.
Carlson Private Capital’s portfolio continues to grow
CPC’s portfolio spans businesses across several specialised sectors, including AMAG Technology, Quantum Design International, Thermo Systems, Millennium and LindFast Solutions Group. The portfolio also includes Lakeshirts/Blue 84, among other investments.
The diversity of these businesses reinforces the importance of having access to executives with sector-specific and functional experience. A talent leader operating at the investment-firm level can help create those leadership networks before a portfolio company reaches an urgent hiring requirement.
HireRoute Take
Ted Andrews’ appointment as Head of Talent at Carlson Private Capital Partners highlights how talent is moving closer to the centre of private equity value creation.
His career progression is particularly relevant: from executive search at Korn Ferry to working directly within private equity at Sole Source Capital, followed by building a specialised PE human capital advisory business.
For HR and talent professionals, the move highlights an emerging career path at the intersection of executive search, talent strategy, portfolio operations and private capital, where identifying the right leadership is increasingly viewed as part of executing the investment thesis itself.
